Orlando’s Journey
Orlando Febres was born in Ft Sill, OK on June, 29, 1964 to the Parents Etanislao Febres Gonzalez & Rosa Maria DeJesus Febres. Orlando peacefully passed away in the tranquility of his home on September 19, 2015 in the presence of his beautiful wife.
Orlando graduated from Widefield High School in 1982. He furthered his education and attended New Mexico State University on a basketball scholarship and obtained a degree in Communications, graduating in 1987.
Immediately following college he joined the International Basketball League playing for Puerto Rico’s Arecibo Capitanes from 1987 – 1993.
After retiring from basketball, Orlando began working for KUSA, Channel 9 in Denver, Colorado as a Technical Engineer; a field he remained in until his health declined. Orlando’s completed his illustrious career in The Woodlands, Texas with Fox Sports Network.
Orlando possessed a burning passion for GOLF, Basketball, and more Golf! He was a true Mr. Fix It. Orlando could fix and build just about anything.
On February 1, 1995, in Denver, Colorado, Orlando united in holy matrimony to the love of his life, Kirsten Whitlow Febres. From this blessed union two beautiful children were born Jase Coleman Febres and Miguelle Maria Febres
Orlando leaves to forever treasure his precious memories: loving wife, Kirsten Febres; 2 children: Jase Febres and Miguelle Febres; parents: Etanislao Febres Gonzalez & Rosa Maria DeJesus Febres ; Siblings: Ada Maria Sanchez (Angel) of Clermont, FL, Elsa Maria Simpson of Fountain, CO, Irma Febres Warner (Toran) of Colorado Springs, CO, Delia Febres Butler (Phil) of Colorado Springs, CO, Victor Luis Febres – Colorado Springs, CO; nieces & nephews: Gary Alexander Simpson (Autumm), Eva Maria Simpson, Chiantel Simone Taylor (JR), Charlene Sanchez, Lisa Shoeibi (Ash), Jisselle De la Hoya (Roberto), Ariana Narisse Bailey, Bryan Alexander Barnes, Alexa Morgan Simpson, Patrick Alexander Simpson, Olivia Gisele Simpson, Heaven Patsy Fennell, Tyler Drake Whitlow, Aiden Christopher Nash, Peyton Olivia Nash; Mother –in-law & Father-in-law: Adrienne & Henry Clay Whitlow; 2 sister-in-laws: Joy Whitlow Nash (John) & Abby Whitlow and SPECIAL FRIENDS Rafael Hernandez and Milton Seamon.
